Crime Prevention

We believe in a proactive approach to crime prevention in order to reduce crime before it happens.  Some of the initiatives/programs toward achieving that goal include the following:

  • Business checks for underage alcohol and tobacco sales
  • School Resource Officers stationed at York High School
  • Regular foot patrols and bike patrols in neighborhoods and parks
  • Professional development training for personnel
  • Regular analysis of calls for service and crime trends to establish efficient action plans for response and manpower
  • Membership in Mutual Aid groups/sharing of information and resources with other agencies
  • DUI and Seatbelt safety checks by the Traffic Unit
  • Community programs like DARE and Alive at 25, aimed at helping young people avoid drug use and be safer drivers
