Services/ReportsA copy of your police report can be obtained during regular business hours. Or call us at (630) 530-3050 to order a report, and a copy can be left for pick-up at the front desk, which is open 24 hours. You may also purchase/download a copy of an Illinois accident report taken by the Elmhurst Police Department for accidents that occurred on or after December 1, 2014, at https://ecrash.lexisnexis.com/
If you are the victim of a property crime, i.e., burglary/theft/lost property, you may contact the Records Division for an adapted copy of the report for insurance purposes (which will not include an investigative narrative). The fee for Property Loss reports is 50¢ per page, but Elmhurst seniors and disabled residents may obtain their reports free of charge.
If you wish to obtain a complete report with the narrative, photos, and any other documents related to your police report, you will need to file a request under the Freedom of Information Act. For more information and/or FOIA request forms, you may download the forms from the preceding link or visit the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 209 N. York St. You will be notified by the Clerk’s Office when your request is ready; however, please note that the City has five (5) business days to comply with all requests.
Records provides "No Felony Conviction" letters for immigration purposes, visas, adoptions, student teaching, boy scouts, cub scouts, and bar exams. To obtain such a letter, you must provide a valid driver's license; we will then check your record and, if clean, provide a letter stating you have no felony convictions in Elmhurst. It takes several days to process this letter, but there is no charge for it.
Alarm permit questions can be answered by Records or by the City Clerk’s office at (630) 530-3015.
If you have lost your copy of a traffic citation, you may obtain a duplicate from Records for 50¢.
Court Dates/AdjudicationFor any questions concerning a court date, please call the DuPage County Circuit Clerk’s office at (630) 407-8600, or check your court date online at the Circuit Clerk’s Office (go to the Important Links box in the lower right-hand corner and click “Cases Online,” then choose the Click Here option under #4 and enter your case information or full name and date of birth on the next screen).
Sex Offender RegistryIf you are a registered sex offender and need to renew your registration, make updates to your status, etc., please do so during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, when the Records Division is open. If you are near your registration due date, please keep in mind that Records is closed on the weekend; however, you can renew early, before your registration expires.
A list of sex offenders registered in Elmhurst can be obtained from Records or from the front desk after hours. The list of sex offenders registered in Illinois can be obtained from the State by accessing their website.
