"Providing the Best"
The primary mission of the Elmhurst Police Department is to provide effective, efficient delivery of law enforcement services to the Elmhurst community. The men and women of this department proudly service by the motto, "Providing the Best, which is the department's guiding principle in the delivery of professional public safety service to our citizens. 

The Elmhurst Police Department is led by Chief Michael McLean, who was promoted to Chief of Police in September of 2022 after the unexpected passing of Chief Michael Ruth. Chief McLean rose through the ranks of the Elmhurst Police since being sworn in January of 2000. Rounding out the Executive Management team are Deputy Chief Brett Kaczorowski, currently assigned as DC of Investigations & Administration, and Deputy Chief James Gandy, who leads the Operations Division since his promotion to DC in November of 2022.

Administrative support services are provided by Jami Carrington, Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police, and Kerri Chambers, Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Chiefs.

Sergeant Matthew Himpelmann was assigned as the Administrative Sergeant until his promotion to Day Shift Commander in November; Sergeant Steve Mandat was promoted to Night Shift Commander, Sergeant Matthew McCollum was promoted to Detective Commander, and Sergeant Guy Schweik was assigned as the new Administrative Sergeant.
